Sydney Motor Sport Park

The Driver Training Academy at Sydney Motorsport Park sets a new benchmark in driver education in Australia.

Proudly presented in conjunction with Volvo, there are three programs to choose from:

Drive Aware - for L and P plate drivers - essential defensive driving for all new drivers.

Drive Safe - for full license holders and graduates of Drive Aware - advanced defensive driving.

Fleet Safe - for companies with drivers on the road for work - tailored courses to meet individual company requirements.

Courses are run by RMS certified instructors which means learner driver students get the triple time bonus for their log book hours (subject to RMS 10 hours maximum allowance). A full day course is a total of 6 hours drive time (equal to 18 log book hours) and a half-day is 3 hours (equal to 9 log book hours).

If you don't have a car or would prefer to use one of ours, you are welcome to drive on of the fleet of 6 Volvo's available we have on hand.

Drive Aware

For L and P plate drivers.

This is a must do course for all new drivers.

Drive Aware has been developed by The Formula Company with the support of Volvo and is based on current, local and international research into driver safety. The course covers driver attitude and decision-making as well as driving skills and techniques. We explain, demonstrate and practice a selection of exercises that help make you a more aware, alert and prepared driver.

Drive Aware is an introductory course that runs over a half day with high instructor to student ratios, and is tailored specifically for L and P plate drivers and their parents.

Drivers will complete a half-day of practical driving in wet and dry handling environments where you will learn driving techniques, basic vehicle dynamics, and human/vehicle interaction.

A safe driver is an aware and prepared driver with the right attitude.

The course covers:

• Driver cabin and control set-up
• Vision and awareness exercises
• Attitude and decision making
• Vehicle dynamics and car control
• Emergency braking exercise
• Following distance exercise

You will receive a certificate of completion when you successfully complete the course. Successful completion will qualify you for the next stage 'Drive Safe'. Lunch and refreshments are provided.

We have a fleet of Volvo's available for hire if you don't have your own car.

Drive Aware - $149 - Half Day

Drive Safe

Full license holders and Drive Aware certified drivers.

If you hold a full license or have successfully completing Drive Aware, you qualify for Drive Safe.

Drive Safe has been developed by The Formula Company with the support of Volvo and focuses on advanced driver safety and car control techniques. Drive Safe is specially tailored for people who have been driving for a while and who want to improve their overall safety on the roads through better car control skills and driving techniques.

The Drive Safe course aims to improve your car control skills in unexpected and emergency situations, as well as update your knowledge of modern safety systems and how they work to improve your active and passive safety. It also covers 'mind driving' techniques that help to develop the right attitude and decision making processes in different situations.

Drive Safe is a full day program conducted on the wet and dry handing arena as well as the cornering circuit and classroom.

This course will cover:

• Personalised technique assessment and coaching
• ABS and Non ABS braking experience
• Understeer and oversteer exercise
• Vision and scanning exercise
• Safety System experience
• Emergency hazard identification and response
• Cornering techniques
• Integration of driving dynamics and bio-mechanics
• Following distance exercise

You will receive a certificate of completion when you successfully complete the course. Lunch and refreshments are provided.

The fleet of 6 Volvo's are available to hire for this course.

Drive Safe: $320

Fleet Safe

Work-related road safety is a significant issue for all organisations who have staff on the road.

With Chain of Responsibility laws and corporate criminal responsibility now in place nationally, it is critical for any organisation with workers who drive for their job to undertake driver training to satisfy duty of care responsibilities.

The corporate program provides a tailored approach to driver safety for companies and fleet managers.

The programs provide a uniform and cost effective road safety training program that can be rolled out to drivers across Australia.

4WD

Four wheel driving is a specialised area of driver training and the courses are designed to build on the knowledge gained in Drive Aware, so this must be completed before booking into this course.

Depending on the class size and needs, there are half day and full day options available.

The course covers:

• Vehicle dynamics of a 4WD
• Driving on slopes - safe ascent and decent
• Vehicle recovery techniques and equipment
• Driving on different surfaces
• Using 4WD controls
• Understanding and caring for your environment

You will receive a certificate of completion when you successfully complete the course.Lunch and refreshments are provided.
